We are NOT a National franchise group. However, about 20 years ago, in our earlier life in the bedding industry, we were exactly that.
We were in a group with mattresses as its primary product for sale. As newbies to this industry we lapped up everything we could about the products, their methods of construction, the benefits and downsides of different mattress components, how they could benefit the consumer etc. It was a great learning process but we squirmed a bit when sitting in discussions about methods of maximising the sales figures by what we felt were dubious means.
At the earliest opportunity we left the franchise group, set up “Relax Bedding” and used the tag “The bedroom experts”. I remember feeling that this was a bit cheeky as we were still learning, but we justified it to ourselves as we had great sales success in the group. An award for a substantial turnover increase was actually due to factors relating to the fairer and more genuine treatment of our customers rather than the expertise learned about the industry.
